Buggy Policy and Usage

We have made a major change to our Buggy Policy from 2019. Up to this year, the only members of L.C.S.L.G.A. who council use a buggy were those who had a Medical Certificate of Disability from their Medical Practitioner. It has become increasingly difficult for some members who need a buggy to play golf to get the required medical certificate. As a result, we have decided to relax the criteria required to use a buggy in all competitions except the Championship and Silver Meeting.

Our new policy is below.

Policy on the use of Motorised Buggies 2023

  • Any player needing to use a motorised buggy (hired or personal) for health reasons may do so providing the host club permits its use. A Medical Certificate is not required.
  • This can be shared by another member of the group, who also medically requires one, if not it can be shared by another team member.
  • All users are subjected to the Host Club Policies in respect of Health and Safety and Hire conditions of Buggies.
  • The Competition Organisers must be advised in advance and the player must make her own arrangements with the host club.
  • The L.C.S.L.G.A. does not accept any liability from the use of such buggies and the player concerned must have the appropriate Liability Insurance.
  • All players who are able to walk should do so unless spare buggies are available on the day of the competition, in which case they may hire a buggy if they wish.
The contract for hire of the buggies is always between the member and the club. Very few clubs have large numbers of buggies, and so it would be in the interests of those members who need a buggy to contact the club as soon as they know they have got in to an event.
The policy for the Championship and Silver Meeting remains unchanged and can be read below.

  • The Competition Organisers must be advised in advance and the player must make her own arrangements with the host club.
  • The buggy may ONLY be used by the player concerned and her own equipment. Sharing of Buggies (Not permitted for Championship and Silver Meeting).
