I was delighted to be asked to be Captain of LGSLGA for the 2026 season. I will be walking in the footsteps of so many great golfers but more importantly lovely people, and I feel very proud to be doing so. Lancashire has been part of my golfing life for over 50 years and to be in a position to give just a small amount back to a county that has given me so much, is indeed an honour and a privilege.
Our association provides fun for everyone, and in advance I would like to thank the fantastic band of volunteers we have on our committee, who organise and run so many events for us. We have a wealth of fixtures on our calendar, entries for which open on line, via our website, on 1st February. I do hope you all get the opportunity to share good times and good golf with your friends in 2026.
Another part of our association’s role is to support and develop our Richardson Trophy squad who play annually against the other five Northern Counties teams. Every year we inch closer to winning this coveted trophy and I am ever hopeful that this will be our year. Ann Lowe has left a fabulous legacy of positivity and confidence in our squad, which I hope I can continue to build on.
I am very much looking forward to working with Wendy Barnsley our new President, Chris Appleby our Vice Captain and our experienced committee. Our Championship this year is at Formby Ladies Golf club and I look forward to welcoming as many of you as possible to my home course. Thank you all for your ongoing support and best wishes to you and your families for a healthy and happy 2026
